A Change in Preschools

After many years we say goodbye to our own Christ Our Savior Lutheran Preschool and thank you all for your dedication and prayer in this ministry. We have been blessed by finding another local excellent preschool that will move into our space and provide an excellent preschool education for the children in the area.

We welcome:
Rabbit Creek Preschool

New place, new faces...30 years of fun!

Now in its 30th year, Rabbit Creek Preschool is a place where children build confidence for kindergarten while developing physically, emotionally, socially, and intellectually. Rabbit Creek Preschool is a fun and creative environment that emphasizes individual development and family involvement.

Rabbit Creek has a new location and new teachers, but the preschool continues its commitment to providing a well rounded program that lays the foundation for a life of learning. Your child will talk about fun and friends and how wonderful it feels to have a Special Day. You will see the growing confidence, independence and learning readiness.

As a parent you are encouraged to participate in the program—to help guide its future just as caring parents have guided its past. This is the Rabbit Creek difference. It’s a community of dedicated individuals with just one objective: Nurturing the littlest learners and providing them with an environment of discovery, creativity and play.

Rabbit Creek Preschool is now located at Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church on the corner of Old Seward and Oceanview.

A New Place to Play
Rabbit Creek Preschool happily cohabitated with Cornerstone Church for 19 years, but this year the church realized that it needed the entire building to accomodate growing programming needs. As soon as the preschool parent volunteers got the news, they set to work looking for another classroom. We’re happy to report - that place has been found!

The perfect kid-ready space is nearby in South Anchorage at Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church. The church is located on the corner of Old Seward and Oceanview between Huffman and Dearmoun. The classroom is a large, bright space - plenty big enough for 20 active kids. It has a connected bathroom, and here’s the part the kids will love: A fully-equipped play yard!

Rabbit Creek Preschool. A place where your child will…learn • listen • imagine • discover • build • try new things • grow • play • paint • pretend • share • create • count • run • skip • jump • make friends • dream • draw • dance…and feel special every day!

Meet Teacher Debbie Brandt
Debbie Brandt, Rabbit Creek Preschool’s new lead teacher, has first-hand knowledge of what a unique experience the preschool provides. As a Rabbit Creek parent, she saw how the preschool gave a boost to her own children. This inspired Debbie to pursue a career in education. Now, with an Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Development from University of Alaska, Anchorage, Debbie has decided to come back to where it all began.

Rabbit Creek Preschool welcomes Debbie and is excited to benefit from her education as well as her experience in schools such as Bayshore Elementary, RurAL CAP Child Development Center and the Anchorage School District Migrant Education Preschool. This Spring, Debbie started working in the Rabbbit Creek classroom, and it was love at first sight for the kids!
"Children learn best when provided a positive, nurturing environment. The individual needs of each child should be met in a developmentally appropriate classroom, and each child should have the opportunity to experience meaningful hands-on learning activities."

Co-Teacher Jessica Hohner
Jessica Hohner joins Rabbit Creek Preschool with over ten years experience as a preschool teacher. She comes to us from Chugiak Children’s Services Head Start program, where she has worked with children and their parents to provide a stimulating and fun preschool experience. Jessica has an Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Development from University of Alaska, Anchorage. She also brings with her years of experience in Washington State preschools.
While Rabbit Creek Preschool is excited to benefit from Jessica’s experience with children, she also has a strong focus on adult involvement. Jessica has been a presenter at the AAECY Conference in Anchorage for the past two years. Last year she lead a workshop for teachers on integrating Alaska into the classroom. This year she presented a hands-on workshop on creative sensory education, giving participants the opportunity to make finger paint, gak, goop, and an assortment of playdoughs.

"I believe it’s important to observe and record the children’s development, then use that information to create a lesson plan that will meet the needs of every child in the program."
